New On the Long Watch List

Check out my latest long swing/scalp ideas for Monday – would help if the market could hold these levels or rebound back up for a few days…

F – I struggle to find love in the auto industry right now, but F tested horizontal support Friday and will be worth watching Monday for possible swing entry long if it holds.

BDSI – Building a little flag against 5.00 with nice volume last week. Looking for possible breakout here.

PPHM -  .70 was previous support and now resistance.  If it moves though with volume, I way swing.

TELK – I like it.  Yes, it released news Friday morning about basically sold off the rest of the day, but it is now on trendline support and the sell-off was likely from all of the cold feet Friday.  I might swing long if it holds trendline.

COIN might be an interesting swing off trendline support. Needs a volume pop.

CPST – sitting on mild horizontal support and MA50 with turning STO. Looking for support bouce long swing.

ZHNE – Triangle consolidation on MA50 support.  Worth watching for breakout.

NXG – Strong horizontal  and MA50 support. Long swing with stop just under 2.50.

ONTY - Held support Friday. Time to swing back up?

CLDX - gotta watch $ for possible momo breakout tomorrow.

GERN – Can GERN hold horizontal support and MA200 with bottoming Full Sto?

Others (less setup, but worth watching):

XOMA might have bottomed Friday.

CRXX – turning Full Sto.

INO – trading in a box.  Could move, but I worry about H1N1 speculation plays right now.

CHINA – weak horizontal support with trendline support.

New to the Watch List

Hello, all.  Hope Tuesday treated you well.

Watch List update:

CHINA continues strong with gains over 20% since its addition to the WL.

SONS made a great breakout and now sits over 10% up.

MI made moves and appears to have more in the tank.

LVLT continues to run.

Outside of that, the others are still worth watching (it only takes one) as we head into Wednesday.  I especially like URRE and CEGE.  The only failure on the list came from ALTU – uggggllly today down over 35%.  Luckily, the setup never triggered a buy prior to their horrible press release this morning.

New to the WL:

XOMA – Good looking consolidation here.  I’m looking for a breakout above 9.

VVTV – Ready to move on a MACD crossover?

Chart of the Day

XOMA

My friend, Kunal, mentioned this stock on Twitter yesterday and I’m glad he did.  A quick look at the chart and I was sold – this puppy was ready to breakout.

Check out the chart below (daily through 7/28).

There were a few really good reasons to be prepared for a breakout this morning:

  1. Tightening bollinger bands. The tighter the bands, the bigger the pop – that’s the general rule.
  2. RSI(14) crossing 50.  Yesterday, RSI was moving north and finished at 50.  Moves through 50 are often associated with a move.
  3. Volume.  It is kind of hard to see on this chart (click for larger), but you can see that volume was starting to improve leading into today’s parabolic explosion.
  4. ADX made a bullish cross on Friday and looked to continue on Monday – very bullish.
  5. Last, but not least, price moved through MA200 yesterday with all of the other bullish indicators.

Bottom line$XOMA was a no-brainer this morning for a swing/scalp trade.

Watch List Cleanup

I only posted two watch list last week – one on the 12th and one on the 13th.  Here are the highlights/lowlights and a few I’m still intererted in:

From the 12th:

$LTXC  – Kaboom – big winner, especially if you got in before Friday.

$FTWR – Up almost 20% since mention.. nice.

$AAV – Another great move – up 15% since mention.

$GNVC – Moved up slightly, but really caught in sideways action – I’ll continue to watch as bollinger bands narrow.

$BEE – Fail

$RAD – Running sideways.  I’ll be there when it breaks out.

$LVLT – finally started moving out of the triangle by Thursday.  Great swing trade that I missed out on.

$DPTR – I called the 1.50 horizontal support and how it is testing MA50 resistance.  Good swing/day trade opportunites last week

$AMKR – Another perfect breakout at 5 horizontal resistance – Damn, how did I NOT play this one.

$MENT – I was expecting more out of MENT, but it did make me a few bucks.
